Commercial Rocket Blasts Off for International Space Station

CAPE CANAVERAL, FL – In what many hope to be the beginning of viable commercial space travel, Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) launched its Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral at 3:44 AM Tuesday morning.  The rocket will deliver the firm’s unmanned Dragon capsule, carrying 1,000 pounds of provisions, to the space station.

According to Space.com, the Falcon 9 mission is the final test before SpaceX can begin running regular delivery missions to the outpost. The company has already signed a $1.6 billion contract to fly at least 12 of these missions.
