beneficent (adj.)

buh NE fuh sint

bringing benefit; doing good

The Nobel Prizes perpetuate the memory and wealth of Alfred Bernhard Nobel, a Swedish inventor whose fortune was made by his discovery of dynamite in 1865. As if to counteract the danger of some of his inventions, his will provided as beneficent a series of gifts as could well be imagined.
